SHOREBIRD SPECIAL

The first week in Aug. is shaping up to be the best shorebird week of the year for the Mid-Island. Peeps have been reported by the 1000's, and a rare White-rumped Sandpiper was observed more than once in the Nanaimo River Estuary. Unfortunately, I never saw the White-rumped, but I have a few other birds to share including "possible" Semipalmated Sandpiper #2 & 3

Semipalmated Plover at Admiral's Lagoon (Aug. 2/04)

Black-bellied Plover at Admiral's Lagoon (Aug. 2/04)

Black Turnstone at Admiral's Lagoon (Aug. 2/04)

Western Sandpiper at Oyster Bay (Aug. 2/04)

Baird's Sandpiper at Nanaimo River estuary (Aug. 3/04)

"Possible" Semipalmated Sandpiper #2 & 3

(at Nanaimo River estuary - Aug. 3/04)
