JOURNAL 79 - THE NOVICE BIRDER

Feb. 21/05 - DEJA VU

Wow! Another amazing sunny day. How long can it last? It was definitely time to take the camera out before it starts to go rusty from lack of use. We had a 2 for 1 lunch coupon for the Old House in Courtenay so we decided to check in on some of my bird buddies on the way. You can probably guess - the "King", Longtails, and Scoters. I haven't seen them for weeks so it was time for a reunion.

YOU AGAIN? - The "King" is really quite friendly, but he let's you know when he doesn't want to be disturbed. He had his eye on his breakfast at French Creek so it wasn't a good time to visit.

GUESS WHO? - That skinny litle long tail is a dead give away. It was party time and time to enjoy the Long-tailed Ducks at Deep Bay.

SHAKE, RATTLE, 'N ROLL - The good weather had everyone in the party mood.

PLAY IT AGAIN, SAM! - Everyone was getting high on the good weather.

SPLISH SPLASH!

MATING GAMES

SPRING FEVER - The male Surf Scoters were strutting their stuff at Deep Bay to impress the ladies.

BATTLE TO THE FINISH - Competition was fierce to win the wing of lady-in-waiting.

THE WINNER! - You win big fella now pucker up.
